Applying for an Arizona Nursing License
The Arizona Board of Nursing will have all of the information needed for a nurse to begin the process of obtaining an Arizona nurse license.
According to the Arizona Board of Nursing, RN licensure by Endorsement means that you have graduated from an approved nursing program, taken the NCLEX or state board test pool exam, and have been granted an RN/LPN license by another state.
New nurses without a state license will need to apply for licensure by examination. If a nurse has met the criteria outlined above, they can follow these steps for Arizona Nursing Licensure by Endorsement:
- Submit an online application with fees
- Verify original state licensure. This can be done through nursys.com
- Provide citizenship/lawful presence documentation
Additionally, a nurse will need to verify their practice by meeting one of the following criteria:
- Practiced as a nurse for 960 hours or more in the past 5 years OR
- Graduated from a nursing program and obtained a degree within the past 5 years OR
- Completed an Arizona Board-approved refresher course in the past 5 years OR Obtained an advanced nursing degree in the past 5 years (i.e. LPN to RN, RN to BSN, masters, or doctorate).
Renewing Your Arizona Nursing License
There is a $160 fee for Arizona nursing license renewals. If a nurse already has a registered license in Arizona that is expired or lapsed, then they must apply for reinstatement.
